The two macrocategories of cookies are technical and profiling cookies.

• persistent cookies: cookies that fall into this category remain stored on your device until a certain deletion date is reached (in terms of minutes, days or years from when the cookie was created/updated).
• analytics cookies: they can be assimilated to technical cookies, but only if: 1) they are used only to produce aggregate statistics and in relation to a single site or a single mobile application; 2) in case of third party cookies (i.e. generated and managed by third parties other than the operator of the website you visit), at least the fourth component of the IP address is masked; 3) third parties refrain from combining analytics cookies, thus minimized, with other processing or from transmitting them to other third parties.
• functionality cookies: they allow the user to navigate according to selected criteria (e.g. language, products selected for purchase in order to improve the service provided to the user).

B) Profiling cookies, on the other hand, are used to analyse the interests and surfing habits of individual users, to personalise their surfing and to deliver, for example, content, including advertising, targeted at the user according to his or her personal interests.

As clarified by the Personal Data Protection Authority, for the installation of technical and analytics cookies (where they meet the characteristics described above) the users’ consent is not required, without prejudice to the obligation of this notice (Article 13 of EU Regulation 2016/679).
Profiling cookies or other tracking tools, on the other hand, can only be used if you have given your consent, which, in any case, remains freely revocable.
